Challanges of the build
The sloping site had an overland flow path covering 40% of the site. This meant the build had to be 1 metre above the 100 year flood level which was determined by specialised engineers. To stabilize the site, a specialist drilling rig had to be brought in, piles were drilled to 7.5m and filled with concrete. The single level build with skillion roof had a central stud height of 4.2m. Due to the high stud large joinery and architraves were used as a feature throughout. As one side of the house over looked the stream, oversized windows were installed to maximise the views and ceiling height windows to ensure ample light flowed throughout.
A truly unique new build. Walking into this house you are instantly blown away. The high stud and open plan living gave this house an overwhelming sense of space. No detail was forgotten and this house had an amazing flow which allowed the family to live in a truly succinct way.
